Marantz’s new AV receivers

Marantz has announced two new midrange AV receivers with the SR5006 and SR6006.

Both come with 3D compatibility, wired network connectivity via Ethernet so you can get internet radio and stream content from your PC via your home network. You can also get access to subscription web-based services and there’s AirPlay capability too so you can stream via iTunes or from your iPhone/iPod/iPad. Both machines can also be controlled using the free Marantz Wizz iPhone app.

UK manufacturer Cello Electronics has announced two new Full HD 3DTV TVs offering with prices starting at under £500.

RHA SA-500

Glasgow-based audio company Reid and Heath Acoustics (RHA) has announced two new pairs of headphones.

The MA-350 earphones are an in-ear design machined from solid aircraft grade aluminium with noise-isolating grommets. RHA says they have an ‘Aerophonic design’ to help them deliver deeper, fuller bass. They come with a fabric cable and a selection of silicone tips.

Following a positive response to Signature versions of the FB1i, TB2i and PB1i speakers, company founder Pete Thomas has adjusted the speaker’s crossover to improve the sound, offering finer detail and transparency in the mid vocal range from the 7.5cm soft dome midrange driver.

The four models in the range will be the VSX-2021 (£800), VSX-LX55 (£1,000), SC-LX75 (£1,500) and SC-LX85 (£2,000).

Crystal Acoustics Media Matchbox

Crystal Audio has unveiled a new version of its PicoHD5.1 portable set-top box with the MediaMatchbox.

Like its predecessor, the Media Matchbox can turn any USB memory stick or NAS drive into an entertainment source for your high-definition TV. It also works with hard disks, USB flash drives and SD or MMC media cards.

TEAC SR-80iDAB

TEAC has squashed its Aurb iPod dock with the Mini Aurb SR-80iDAB, a more compact version of the original SR-100.

The new version features a similar looking semi-circle design, and comes with a DAB/FM radio as well as iPod dock.

Yamaha has announced UK pricing for the first of its new ’71 series receivers for 2011, first launched in the US in April.

Standing 23cm high, the two-way design features a 125mm bass/midrange driver and a 25mm tweeter. Frequency response runs from 64Hz to 22kHz with a crossover at 2.9kHz.

Nikon has stirred up the camera crowds once again with its newly released D5100, filling the industry with the buzz of a new high-resolution articulating screen. In terms of consumer DSLR options, the D5100 has taken on the role of the mid-range model in Nikon's product line between the D3100 and the D7000 and we think it assumes the part rather nicely. In terms of price, the D5100 fits right in as well, fetching an MSRP of $900 (vs. $700 and $1600, respectively for the two aforementioned camera kits).
