UK manufacturer Cello Electronics has announced two new Full HD 3DTV TVs offering with prices starting at under £500.
The 42in Cello is expected to retail at £499, and the 47in version at £699. Each will come with four free pairs of polarised 3D glasses, with more available for £20 each.
Considering the price, it’s not surprising that the LCD Cello series uses passive 3D technology, the same as LG’s. Both sets include two HDMI inputs and a USB socket which allows recording to a hard drive and Cello’s EPG.
Brian Palmer, director of the Leyburn, Yorks-based company, admitted he had been unsure at first about the future of 3D: “But the quality of 3D vision now available and the number of new 3D films coming onto the market this year guarantees success for this new technology.
“Sky now has one 3D channel and existing subscribers who already have Sky’s full package can get it free of charge. I’m sure many other 3D channels will also launch in the near future, making ownership of a 3D TV even more appealing.”
The new Cello 3D range will be available from late June.
